The only thing better than saving money is tracking the amount you’ve saved.
I don’t know about you guys, but I get all tingly when I see the actual dollar amount saved.
That’s why I created a simple spreadsheet to track how much money I spend on groceries vs. the amount saved. It’s a simple template you can customize based on your shopping habits and specific needs.
Using it is simple:
1. Click the orange button
You will be directed to a Google Sheets (Excel) file.
2. Input information in the “Expenses” tab
There are 2 tabs in the calculator:
- Expenses input
You don’t need to edit the first tab, that’s simply to roll up your expenses into a simple monthly calculation.
In the 2nd tab, I’ve listed out each month broken down by week.
Simply add in the amount spent on groceries and the amount you saved . These numbers are summed at bottom of the spreadsheet and auto imported to the summary sheet, allowing you to closely track your spending and saving.
3. Follow along in the “Summary” tab
Everything you input will be auto pulled into the “Summary” tab where you can see total amount spent vs. saved.
While simple, this spreadsheet will keep all the numbers in front of you. With those numbers, you can easily track your progress and determine if your hard work couponing is paying off.
I hope you find this tool as helpful as I have, and that it will bump up your motivation and savings with each passing month.
