It all began in 1947 in Queens, New York. Fred Major had opened his own jewelry store in a shopping hub outside of Manhattan. A year later he hired his first employee. A watchmaker he befriended at the Bulova School of Watch Making. His name was Kurt Strauss. Kurt was hired to sell and repair watches. Within a year, Fred sold the store to Kurt. Kurt and his wife Denise continued with the business, carefully maintaining strong customer ties and delivering exceptional service.
